A fabrication-less IC vendor needed a system designed to evaluate the throughput capabilities of a new ATM switch fabric integrated circuit (IC).
To demonstrate the performance and value of their new ATM switch fabric IC, the client required a custom circuit board that could effectively showcase the product’s capabilities in a real-world test environment.
Impact ES–Rhode Island developed an FPGA-based system capable of delivering high data rate streams to and from the ATM IC. Given the nature of the system, careful attention was paid to power supply design and transmission line effects to ensure signal integrity and reliable performance.
