Major Rhode Island Health Insurance Company
Impact ES–Rhode Island redesigned image processing software used for managing health insurance claims.
A major Rhode Island health insurance provider had developed an application to display and manage scanned claims and other forms for processing by data entry personnel. Originally built in Visual Basic 6 as a proof of concept, the application was eventually deployed enterprise-wide and became mission critical. Over time, it began to exceed the capacity of its original infrastructure, which relied on Windows NT servers and Microsoft Access databases. The client engaged Impact ES–Rhode Island to assess and improve the system’s reliability, scalability, and performance.
Impact ES–Rhode Island upgraded the production environment through the following improvements:
Ported the data layer from Microsoft Access to DB2
Migrated the server component to Windows 2000 Server and COM+
Added a new module to enhance security and auditing
Introduced usability enhancements and fixed existing bugs
