Photo Booth

.

Client

A company that manufactures and leases photo booths for events such as high-end product launches, trade shows, and weddings.

Project Scope

Design, integrate, and deploy a custom software and hardware solution for a photo booth system that:

  • Captures video clips

  • Uploads content directly to internet platforms

  • Interfaces with high-end digital cameras and various peripherals

  • Meets a hard deadline for delivery at an upcoming trade show

Challenge

The client needed enhanced functionality added to its photo booth systems—including video recording, internet upload, and modern device integration. The solution had to work with Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) components, integrate multiple hardware interfaces, and be delivered on an aggressive timeline.

Solution

Impact ES–Rhode Island developed an end-to-end solution in C#, enabling flexible configuration and integration of:

  • Video and camera equipment

  • Flash and audio devices

  • Credit card readers

  • Voice prompts

  • Touchscreen interfaces

The system supported both image and video capture in a kiosk environment. Booths could upload:

  • Video and image data

  • Payment information

  • Usage statistics

Web Components Included:

  • A central data management portal for NYC Photo Booth to monitor booth usage, equipment status, and receivables

  • A client-facing portal for content review, supporting multiple booths and locations

  • Public-facing sites for end users to view and share sessions

  • Despite the tight deadline, the solution was delivered on time—with additional features beyond the original scope.

Outcome

The client successfully deployed upgraded booths at a major trade show. The system offered enhanced user interaction, streamlined data management, and scalable content sharing—all within a rapid development cycle.

Key Takeaways

  • Tight timelines can be met with the right technical approach and agile development

  • Integration of COTS components with custom software allowed cost-effective scaling

  • The web-based architecture supported real-time monitoring, client customization, and user engagement

  • Early delivery enabled value-added features and exceeded client expectations
